A vintage white gold Rolex Cosmograph headlines Phillips’ Daytona Ultimatum auction.
You’d be forgiven for not recognising this timepiece. It’s called The Unicorn for a reason — it’s a watch so rare few knew of its existence, and even fewer had ever seen it in real life.
This extraordinary vintage white gold Rolex Cosmograph Daytona, reference 6265, is believed to be a one-off, crafted in 1970 on special order for a German retailer.
At the time of production, it was very likely the rarest, most luxurious and special Cosmograph offered by Rolex. But while John Goldberger had for years maintained it was too precious to part with, he has now decided to put it up for auction to benefit Children Action.
The watch will headline Phillips’ Daytona Ultimatum in Geneva on May 12.
Dubai Ruler’s GMT-Master ref. 1675 included in Christie’s Important Watches auction.
