The Amadeo Fleurier Monsieur Bovet goes from wrist to pocket to pendant watch

It is not every day that a timepiece fundamentally transforms our perception of the world — much less our understanding of time itself; nor is it every day that a maison successfully conveys the subtle nuances of historical methods and processes inherent in said timepiece. Yet Bovet has done just that with the Amadeo Fleurier Monsieur Bovet.

Elegant, refined and sober, the Monsieur Bovet is a one-of-a-kind convertible timepiece. The allure of the Fleurier collection lies in the disarming simplicity with which the 31mm Amadeo system, in white and red gold, facilitates transformation from a wristwatch to a table clock, a pocket watch for men, or a pendant watch for women. With two distinct faces, hours and minutes are displayed on both sides. The Monsieur Bovet is further accentuated by a coaxial second hand with clockwise revolutions on the top and bottom of the movement — also seen on both sides of the piece, and a manually wound seven-day power reserve.

The poetics of basic precision movement is further evinced by the Monsieur Bovet’s functionality as a table clock. Equipped with invisible push-pieces embedded in the Amadeo case, two cabochons are strategically positioned on either side of the bow, and, when pressed simultaneously, frees the upper strand of the strap. When activated, an additional push-piece, located in the rear bezel, pivots on an invisible hinge at 6 o’clock; the rear bezel now becomes a stand, transforming the timepiece into a table clock.

In true Bovet fashion, each watch is fitted with a chain that, once inserted into the bow, morphs into a pocket watch or pendant; the chain replaces the upper strand of the strap, the effects of gravity on the watch are countered by patented Bovet tourbillon movement, maintaining vertical position and precision; and much like the Braveheart tourbillon, the in-house Virtuoso II 13BM08A1 calibre is a towering monumental to the art of watchmaking that the House of Bovet is celebrated for.

In and of themselves, master chronometry, exquisite dial craftsmanship and boundless mother-of-pearl miniature paintings in Grand Feu enamel and engravings are quite beautiful. But the true import of Bovet 1822 and Dimier 1738’s intervention is its implication for watchmakers and collectors alike.

For watchmakers, the Fleurier Monsieur Bovet is more than a luxury pocket watch; it is the embodiment of the passion and respect for transmitting a deep understanding of ancestral knowledge and tradition to the next generation of watchmakers. For collectors, that passion and respect for tradition is reflected in the extraordinary emotion that Bovet ownership conveys.

Behold a timepiece that serves as the penultimate expression of heritage and exclusivity designed for responding to the personal desires and tastes of discerning collectors. It’s little wonder then that this timepiece has emerged as one of the Middle East’s bestsellers.
