Swiss watchmaker releases exclusive timepiece in honour of its partnership with Cannes Film Festival
Just when you thought red carpet events couldn’t get any more exclusive, Chopard has gone and upped the ante with a watch designed specifically to suit the tuxedos and gowns adored at film festivals by the A-listers in attendance.
Limited to just ten pieces, the Maison’s new L.U.C XPS 1860 Red Carpet Edition is an 18k white gold 40mm chronograph with a red dial in a shade reminiscent of the carpet the actors will strut their stuff on at Cannes on May 13th.
Fitted with the L.U.C 96.01-L movement, the timepiece bears the Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark and is chronometer-certified by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres, the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).
The ‘montée de marches’ (walking up the stairs) ritual has become a prime opportunity for fashion labels and watchmakers to draw the watching world’s attention to their latest releases. And the 71st version of the iconic French film awards evening will be no exception for Chopard.
Having partnered with the Cannes Film Festival since 1998, the Swiss luxury watchmaker has a deep affinity with the filmmaking world and its latest timepiece aims to reflect its bond with highbrow cinema.
Dedicated to the greatest actors on the Croisette, Chopard’s timepiece reflects the craftsmanship and precision of the exclusive horological creations from the Geneva-based Manufacture.
The Red Carpet L.U.C is also supposed to support the Chopard’s high-end jewellery collection. For each year of the Maison’s sponsorship of the Canne’s Film Festival, an item of jewellery is added to the collection so that the number of jewellery pieces available in the collection reflects the number of years the sponsorship has run for.
We look at the haute horlogerie timepieces that have been specially designed to celebrate the year of the dog.
